Step right up!

The Dream Exchange is a traveling micro-carnival experience where participants gift their old dreams and create new unexpected ones in whimsical games of chance and imagination.

With the help of leavers, tubes, flaps, and spinners participants redefine the American Dream with new visions of possibility, grounded by their values and fueled by curiosity.

The result.

A unique anti-capitalist reimagining of depression-era carnival games that promotes generosity, community, and values-driven future visioning through serious play in a series of public art interventions.

A mobile cabinet

of curious games.

The first mode of intervention is a brightly colored transforming cabinet of curious games, reminiscent of depression-era traveling entertainers, pushed by bicycle through public parks, encouraging impromptu interactions and conjuring unexpected, and occasionally chortle worthy, possibilities of what the future might be.

A mini-trailer + dream-teller + pneumatic magic

The second mode of intervention is a vintage mini-camper-trailer adapted with a service window for one-on-one exchanges with a dream-teller, assisted by a pneumatic tube system for the delightful experience of sending an old dream off, whooshing through and around the mini-trailer, and the unexpected joy of receiving a dream delivered back through the same system into the hands of the participant.
